Studio Space Opportunity
Wilson & Co. is seeking a community-minded, reliable and responsible artist to join our space!
What you will receive:
- Studio access for 1-2 days per week.
- Required: Coverage for either Saturdays OR Mondays is required
- Optional: Additional coverage on Sundays. Further studio time outside of your arranged days may be discussed and available at an agreed upon rate.
- A bright, inspiring studio environment in Ladysmith.
- Access to a pottery wheel if needed (you may also bring your own)
- Connection to our local community!
- Option to potentially host workshops
What we ask in return:
- Gallery coverage during business hours (10am - 5PM) on your studio days
- Opening and closing the store, welcoming and assisting visitors
- Processing sales
- Keeping the studio clean and tidy
Ideal for:
- Potters, jewelers, small-scale sculptors or other small-scale artists across mediums.
- Someone responsible, friendly, and comfortable interacting with customers
- Artists looking for low cost studio space
Important Details:
- Kiln access: We have a small kiln-sitter kiln (1 cu ft.). Depending on the scale of the artists production, kiln access may be available for a small fee to cover expenses. Otherwise, firing services will need to be arranged elsewhere.
- We’re offering a shared-time arrangement. You cover the gallery during business hours on your chosen day(s), and in exchange, you get access to the studio to create.
- Occasionally, we may ask if you’re available for additional time when arranging time off. This would be agreed in advance.
- Gallery space for your work may be available by separate consignment agreement if your work aligns with our curation (not guaranteed).

- A brief intro about you and your art practice
- Why this arrangement appeals to you
- 2-3 photos of your work so we can get a sense of your practice
- You preferred day(s) from Mondays or Saturdays and whether you have any availability for Sundays.
Applications will remain open until May 24. If the right candidate hasn’t been selected, this deadline may be extended - we’re committed to finding the perfect fit! We’ll review all submissions by May 31. If you don’t hear from us by then, we’ve likely moved forward with other applicants but we truly appreciate your interest!
